Types of Cells

View mindmap
  • Cells
    • Eukaryotic Cells
      • Found in plants, animals, fungi and protists.
      • A eukaryote is an organism made up of eukaryotic cells.
    • Prokaryotic Cells
      • Example: bacteria
      • A prokaryote is an organism made up of prokaryotic cells.
      • No mitochondria (respiration) or chloroplasts (photosynthesis)
      • Some contain small rings of DNA called plasmids. They can replicate and move between cells so that genetic info can be shared.
      • Do not have a nucleus- instead most genetic material is stored in the cytoplasm.
