- Vasodilation-the capillaries widen so a larger amount of blood can flow near the skin surface and release heat.(you sweat)The hair and hair erector muscles relax and you don't shiver.

- Vasoconstriction the capillaries get smaller so larger amounts of blood can travel away from the skin surface. Heat is kept to the body.no sweat, your hair and hair erector muscles stand on end to trap an extra layer of air. Body begins to shiver and produce heat.
