      • 'Bill of Rights' allowed German citizens freedom of speech, religion and equality
      • Men and women over 20 were able to vote
      • There was an elected president and an elected Reichstag (parliament)
      • The Reichstag made laws and appointed the government
    • Weaknesses
      • Proportional Representation
        • Instead of voting for an MP, German people voted for a party
        • Each party was allocated seats in the Reichstag, exactly reflecting the number of people who had voted for them
        • Lots of little parties formed, no major party, no government to get its laws passed
