  • The Kidney
    • Centre = Pelvis, which leads to the ureter.
    • Inner region = Medulla
    • Outer region = Cortex
    • Urine passes out of the kidney, down the ureter and to the bladder.
    • The blood is drained by a renal vein.
    • Role: To remove waste from the blood and produce urine.
    • Supplied with blood from a renal artery.
    • Each kidney is made up of tiny tubules called nephrons.
    • Each nephron starts in the cortex.
  • Urine passes out of the kidney, down the ureter and to the bladder.
