- Meeus and Raaijmakers
- Strengths - Builds on Milgram's study of obedience. Good controls meaning the experiment is replicable and can be tested for reliability - cause and effect conclusions can be drawn. Weaknesses - Lab experiment so therefore artificial - findings may not be valid. Difficult to make comparisons between two stuides due to different time period and different culture.
- Milgram
- Aim - To prove that not all Germans are strict authoritive figures that inflict horrors.
- Results - 100% to 300v. 65% to 450v. Estimated 3% to 450v.
- Strengths - Practical application as it helps us to understand real life situations of obedience. Debriefed them well after experiment. Weaknesses - Poor ethics (deception, no informed consent, no right to withdraw). Low ecological validity due to artificial tasks and it being a lab experiment.

- Hofling
- Aim - To see whether nurses would go against strict hospital regulations and guidlines.
- Results - 21/22 nurses would give the medication.
- Strengths - Good ecological validity due to it being a natural experiment. Weaknesses - Nurses were deeply upset that they were observed without permission. Poor ethics due to the fact that there was no informed consent, or right to withdraw.
