  • Removal of magistrates
    • 1) Must RETIRE at 70.
      • However, they can continue carry out administrative tasks after.
    • 2) The Lord Chancellor removes magistrates, under s.11 of the Courts Act
      • For:
        • MISCONDUCT
          • INCOMPETENCE
            • FAILING to meet standards of BEHAVIOUR
              • Or NOT attending sufficient SITTINGS
    • 3) Complaints were dealt with under the JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE REGULATIONS 2006.
    • 4) They are INVESTIGATED by Local Advisory Committees and the Office for Judicial Complaints.
