    • definitions
      • war-involves fighting, behaving in a hostile manner, usually violence between two countries
      • civil war- a war between citizens of the same country.
        • e.g. English civil war
      • violence- is aggressive hostile behavior .
      • Just war- when war is sometimes necessary and justified.
        • e.g. WW2
      • pacifism- is being totally against the use of war and violence in any situation.
        • e.g. MLK
      • conscientious objectors- refuse to take part in military service to their conscience.
      • holy war- a war fought for or with god, a war fought for religious reasons.
        • e.g. crusades
    • some Christians. (pacifism)

      • Love your enemies, pray for those who persecute you.
      • "turn the other cheek"
      • Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.
      • e.g. MLK
      • turn their swords into ploughs  and nation will not rise against nation.
      • those who draw the sword will die by the sword- jesus

      • Do not commit murder
    • other christians. (just war)
      • WW2- just war against Hitlers aggression and Nazi policies.
      • sometimes war and violence is justified
      • Jesus turned the tables of the money changers in the table.
      • LYN by fighting others.
      • god called "a warrior" in old testament for helping the Jews fight the Egyptians.
