- Smaller objects perceived as further away than larger ones

- On a sandy beach, closer up we see more detail than what we see further away

- Parallel lines appear to converge in the distance
- Very long straight roads or railroad tracks appear to meet in the distance

- In a scene with a horizon, objects lower in the scene appear closer
