- Just War Theory
- Must be fought by the PROPER AUTHORITY or agreed by the UN
- Cause of must be JUST CAUSE - fought in self defence
- Must be fought with the intention of restoring peace - ESTABLISH GOOD
- There must be a REASONABLE CHANCE OF SUCCESS. Soldiers lives must not be at risk if there is not
- It is begun as a LAST RESORT - diplomacy has failed
- Methods used are proportional to the cause e.g. not destroying a small island with a nuclear bomb - SUFFICIENT FORCE
- Avoid killing civilians. They must not be targeted - CONTROLLED VIOLENCE
