  • Just War Theory
    • Must be fought by the PROPER AUTHORITY or agreed by the UN
    • Cause of must be JUST CAUSE - fought in self defence
    • Must be fought with the intention of restoring peace - ESTABLISH GOOD
    • There must be a REASONABLE CHANCE OF SUCCESS.  Soldiers lives must not be at risk if there is not
    • It is begun as a LAST RESORT - diplomacy has failed
    • Methods used are proportional to the cause e.g. not destroying a small island with a nuclear bomb - SUFFICIENT FORCE
    • Avoid killing civilians. They must not be targeted - CONTROLLED VIOLENCE
