- exchange of materials- osmosis
- 1. tie wire around one end of visking tubing. put glass tube in other end+ fix with wire
- 2. pour sugar solution down glass tube into visking tubing
- 3. put visking tubing into beaker of pure water + measure where sugar solution comes up to on glass tube
- 4.leave overnight, measure where liquid is on glass tube. Water should be drawn into visking tubing by osmosis- will force liquid up glass tube.
- 3. put visking tubing into beaker of pure water + measure where sugar solution comes up to on glass tube
- visking tubing- partially permeable membrane
- 2. pour sugar solution down glass tube into visking tubing
- partially permeable membrane- has small holes- only tiny molecules get through
- only movment of water
- in and out of cells- through cell membrane
- high water concentration- dilute solution
- low water concentration- more concentrated solution
- steady net flow to area of lower concentration
- 1. tie wire around one end of visking tubing. put glass tube in other end+ fix with wire
