  • diffusion
    • diffusion is the gradual movement of particles from places where there are lots of them to places where is fewer of them.
      • natural tendency for stuff to spread out
        • it happens in solutions and gasses- particles in the substances are free to move about randomly.
          • simplest type is when gasses diffuse through eachother.
    • cell membranes
      • hold cell together and let stuff in and out.
      • dissolved substances can ove by diffusion

              • things that can diffuse through (smaller)
                • glucose
                • oxygen (for respiration)

                • starch
                • proteins
              • particles flow through from a high concentration to a low concentration
              • they move about randomly so go both ways
                • if there is a lot more on one side theres a net movement  on that side
