    • involves comparing people in different countries
    • A culture is a set of norms, values, beliefs and practices that characterise a community.
    • Most commonly compared in psychology over nationalities.
    • Look at both the similarities and differences of people in communities
    • Culture is considered the Independant variable and the focus of study the dependant variable
    • Example :van Ijzendoorn and Kroonenberg 1988 - Strange situation across cultures.
    • Useful in helping us to understand what aspects of behaviour are universal and which are a product ofculture.
    • It is hard to match samples across the cultures
    • There will always be confounding variables
