    • A term that's used to refer to the death and resurrection of Jesus & their effects on salvation( the process of being saved from sin and returning to God)
    • passion-the events leading up to and including jesus' death
      • 1-The last supper-Known as maundy Thursday, Jesus shared a final meal with his disciples, prophesied that one of his disciples would betray him
        • "This is my body given for you, do this in remembrance of me "
        • 2- The betrayal arrest and trial sees Sanhedrin, condemned for claiming to be God and the king of Jews(blasphemy), taken to Pontius Pilate and condemned to death, and he was mocked and forced to wear a crown of thorns
    • Resurrection-Jesus miraculously rose from the dead 3 days after his crucifixion- proving he is  God incarnate
      • "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here ; he has risen!"
      • Jeus then appeared to and spoke to his followers for 40 days
        • "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself"
      • Believed to be  a present event since Jesus is still with us
        • "I am with you always"
      • shows victory of light over darkness
    • The ascension-Jesus told his disciples to stay in jerusalem where thyed reciebve the power of the holyspirit, Jeuss human body and soul were taken up to God (believed to prepare the way for po]eopple to follow him)
      • "While he blessed them, he was parted from them and carried to heaven"
  • Catholic beliefs about the paschal Mystery-It was apart of Gods plan to bring people back to God and save them after they turned away from him after the fall of man, Jesus' ascension opened up heaven for humanity
    • Its proof that Jesus is GOD incarnate as no one but God can conquer death
  • "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life
