    • Innate / Inherited
      • Reflex actions are simple inherited behaviours, e.g. sneezing and blinking
        • Often protect us from dangerous stimuli
    • Behaviour is how an organism responds to things going on in its environment
    • It can either be inherited or learned - but most behaviour relies on a combination of the two
    • Both genes and environment play a part in influencing behaviour
    • Learned
      • Lets animals respond to changing conditions
      • Habituation - if keep giving an animal a stimulus that isn't beneficial or harmful to it, it quickly learns not to respond to it
    • Mixture of learned + innate
      • Imprinting is when an animal learns to recognise its parents and instinctively follows them
