  • Aeneas' reaction to Pallas' death
    • Aeneas is very upset after hearing of Pallas' death and doesn't react that well
      • His reaction is slightly unexpected from Aeneas because he is usually quite calm but in this scene he is very angry and wants revenge
    • Virgil shows the lack of mercy Aeneas shows to the people he fights which shows how much it has affected him
      • The tone is made violent in the way the deaths are described in a very detailed way and the fast pace in which it occurs
    • Aeneas comes across differently as he has done before because he has no mercy and doesn't stop to think about what he's doing
    • The simile that Vigil uses compares Aeneas to Aegaeon. This is interesting because it descries him going against an immortal which adds furor and elevates the section with mention of the gods
    • These lines show that Virgil is a good storyteller because it makes you understand how Aeneas must be feeling and makes you feel bad for him as well.
