Hard & Soft Engineering

 Hard engineering- The building of something to lower the effects or likelihood of flooding.

Soft engineering- Letting the Natural assets take care of flooding.

Examples:

Soft Engineering- Afforestation- This is the planting of trees in the hope that they will infiltrate the rainfall.

Hard Engineering: The construction of dams: This is expensive, but does create jobs for people and create a tourist site.
