- A crime is an illegal act which is punishable by law. E.g. robbery, fraud, shoplifting.
- Deviance is behaviour which doesnt conform to society's norm or social rules. This can be

- Legal deviance is behaviour seen as abnormal by people but doesnt mean breaking the law.
- Examples of legal deviance is talking loudly in the cinema or library.
- Illegal deviance is criminal behaviour that is punishable by the state.
