1. Observation/comment
Writer makes observation 'I saw a tigeer' and follow their either evaluate comment 'it was very large' or mixes these in with observation 'I saw a very large tiger'

Usually chronological sequence of events. Recount of a school trip. Children are often asked to follow up an an activity. It is written subjectivly. Structures of a recount usually follow a set pattern. Orientation - event - reorientation.

Factual and objective description of evnts or things - tends not to be chronological

4. Narrative
Story genre - scene is set for events to occur - be respected at the end. Set pattern O - complication - Resoloution - Coda. Coda identfies point of story - not always added.

Because of structured completely, few children will achieve whole structure early on despite expereimce of reading stores that follow this narrative structure.
