She studied 226 hospital doctors and asked them about the stresses they had at work and how this effected their stress at home visa versa

Showed that role conflict was directly associated with emotional exhaustion and depression

To investigate the relationship between control in the workplace and the incidence of conorary heart disease.

Used 7372 both male and female british civil servants, participants were sent questionaire and asked to take part in screeing of CHD this was repeated 5 years later

What did Marmot find from his experiment?
Both men and women in the lowest grades were three times more likely to develop CHD

What was the conclusion of Marmots experiment?
Having low control over your work causes you more stress than having lots of control

HE did heart tests so he only knows if it effects the heart nothing else. He only used people aged 35-55 no one younger who would be less likely to develop CHD

Fails to control extraneous variables , many of the studies used questionaires so they are effected by social desirability, link is correlational and some have low population validity
