What are the advantages and disadvantages of Digital Audio Broadcasting?
As DAB receives digital signals this means there is less interference and more stations are available. However some areas cannot receive DAB as the short wavelength signal cannot diffract around hills.
1 of 5
What does our ionosphere do to radiowaves?
The electrically charged ionosphere reflects longer wavelength radiowaves, so radio and TV programmes can be transmitted between different places.
2 of 5
Why must radio stations and broadcasters use different frequencies?
They do this to avoid interference, which can cause sound to be distorted.
3 of 5
What does refraction and diffraction in the atmosphere do to waves?
Refraction in the many layers of the Earth's atmosphere results in waves changing direction. Diffraction at the edge of transmission dishes causes the waves to spread out, causing signal loss.

How do satellites work?
A signal from a ground station transmitter dish is sent to a satellite receiver dish. A return signals is then sent by the sa
