The Kapp Putsch Led by Wolfgang Kapp, It was put down by a general workers strike and within 4 days had crippled Germany

Why did those who marched in Kapp Putsch want to overthrow the Government?
They aimed to set up a new government, as they were angry at the others for signing the Treaty of Versailles.

What happened in January 1919?
50,000 Spartacists rebelled in Berlin, led by Communists Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Leibknecht ; This became known as the Spartacists Uprising.

Why did the army refuse to put down the Kapp Putsch and what happened them?
General Von Seecht told Ebert "Troops don't fire on troops". Despite this the Government took no action against the army.

When did the Red Rising occur, Who supported it and why did they do it?
Straight after the Kapp Putsch, 50,000 communist workers in the Ruhr, had went on strike in reaction to the Kapp Putsch. But they remained on strike in attempt to obtain concessions from the government they had just saved.

How many government politicians were killed by nationalist terrorists?
356 government politicians were assassinated, including Walter Rathenau the foreign minister and Matthias Erzberger who had been a finance minister. Many of these assassinations went unpunished.

What were the terms of the Treaty of Versailles and when was it signed?
All Germanys Colonies were taken and given to France and Britain as 'mandates'. The German Army was Restricted to 100,000 men, the German Navy was restricted to 6 battleships and no submarines and Germany was forbidden from having an air-force.
