over 50%of the worlds population lives in cities, however some of the largest cities such a s tokyo,are at risk of earth quakes.the more densley populated an area is the higher the risk because it effects more people so there are more casualties.

people cannot afford to move away from areas at risk or they cannot afford to build hazard proof buildings meaning that they have no protection or way of not being involvedwith the hazard.

the earth warms up meanig that it can lead to storms and hurricanes meaning that the sealevels increace and parts of the world become flooded. or some parts of the world may become dryer causing drought.

when a riverbursts its banks it deposits fertile silt so farmers live near areas that are at risk of flooding because the soil is fertile. the same goes for areas near volcanoes.
