Synoptic Chart
A weather map that shows the weather data gathered by many different weather stations on land and at sea. They show us pressure patterns and the position of the fronts.
7 of 10
Relief Rainfall
When moist on shore winds meet a mountain barrier, air is forced upwards causing condensation on clouds. This leads to rain
8 of 10
Convectional Rainfall
The sun heats up the ground causing air to rise rapidly where it cools and the water vapour in it condenses. Large cumulo-nimbus clouds are formed often resulting in heavy rain and thunderstorms. Occurs in hot and tropical regions.
9 of 10
Frontal Rain
Warm air from the tropical maritime air mass tries to push towards the north pole while cool air from the polar maritime air mass tries to push south. The leading edges of both masses become the fronts and frequently produce rain.
