River System
Is where streams and smaller rivers(tributaries) drain from the highest point and join at the confluence to make a river. A series of channels.

Watershed
A watershed is the highest point that surrounds the drainagebasin/catchment area. It seperates one basin from another.

Drainage Basin
......is an area of land surrounded by a watershed; it is also known as a Catchment area. It is drained by a single river system.

....when the water becomes too heavy for the leaf, so the leaf gives way and the water flows off

....water flows down the trunk

.....water soaks into the soil

....how fast water sinks in. It is measured in millimetres per hour. It depends on the type of soil ( cley /slow and grit/fast)

Percolation
....is the downward movement after infiltration. the water will go through the soil and then through the rock if it is porous/ permeable

water table
....is the divide between saturated rock below and unsaturated above both with the seasons and from year to year because it is affected by climatic variations and by the amount of precipitation and by withdrawing excessive amounts of water from wells

Precipitation
The definition of precipitation is any form of water - liquid or solid - falling from the sky.
