water cycle 2017 AS LEVEL

?
what is negative feedback ?
an example of negative feedback is that the water cycle water is taken out of flow- this process results in less action taken place in the following processes reducing the cycle as a whole.
1 of 13
what is positive feedback?
this is when the effects of an action is multiplied and has knock of effects. for example global warming, ice melts, more co2 is released.
2 of 13
what are the inputs of the hydro logical cycle?
precipitation/ this is because precipitation enters the drainage basins
3 of 13
what are the outputs of the hydro logical cycle?
rivers flowing out into sea, or the final release of the water from the drainage basin.
4 of 13
how is water stored in the hydrological cycle?
water is stored in drainage basins in lakes or channels and been underground in the ground water stores. the water reaches the water stores by the processes of infiltration and perculation.
5 of 13
what is cryospheric water?
the water held within ice caps, glaciers, permafrost or sea ice an example of sea ice is the Ross ice shelf.
6 of 13
what is terrestrial water?
terrestrial water is water that is , ground water, soil water, biological water.
7 of 13
what are glaciers?
glaciers is ice the slowly creeps down a hill and makes deep sounds as the ice moved. glaciers move up to half a meter a day.
8 of 13
Albedo effect?
as ice is white when the sun 's rays hit the bright colour it reflects the light and heat which is called the Albedo effect.
9 of 13
what are hyrographs?
hydrographs show how much water is in a river channel and how fast it moves through the river channel.
10 of 13
what is the hydroraph used to show?
how a river responds to a period of rain. it is also used to calculate the lag time- the peak rainfall compared to the peak flow and how long it takes.
11 of 13
factors that effect a shape of a hydrograph.
urbanization/ gradient/ geology/ intensity of rainfall/ size of the drainage basin.
12 of 13
what is the water balance?
=precipitation= discharge/total runoff + evapotransportation+-changes in storage.
