What are the 2 types of variation?
1. interspecific=variation that exists between species 2. intraspecific=differences within a species
1 of 5
Exaplain the causes of intraspecific vairation and give an each of each
enviromental factors-effects phenotype (apperance) e.g amount of minerals in soil (plant) and genetic factors-inherited, alleles make up genotype=variation in phenotype e.g blood type
2 of 5
Defintion of an alleles
Different versions of the SAME gene
3 of 5
Why is random sampling used?
represent whole population, to eliminate bias
4 of 5
What is the normla distribution? and give a definiton for standard diviation
1. bell-shaped graph due to values on both sides of the mean, 2. spread of values around the mean
