1 of 6
Define Disk defragmenter
A utility which rearranges information on a disk so that files appear in continuous sequences instead of in different clusters.
2 of 6
Define Backup and Restore
(Full and incremental backup) Allows the user to restore the system to its previous state because it is saved as a backup. This is usually used if a system malfunctions.
3 of 6
Define Compression (Lossy)
Lossy compression reduces a file by permanently eliminating certain information. When the file is uncompressed only some of the original file is still there.
4 of 6
Define Compression (Lossless)
With lossless compression, every single bit of data that was originally in the file remains in the file after it is uncompressed.
5 of 6
Define Disk cleanup
The table of contents serves as an address book, keeping a record of each file and the clusters used to store that file. When a file is deleted, the address to the location on the disk is removed.
