Hedonism
The view that pleasure is the chief 'good'

The Principle of Utility
An act is right if it brings about maximal happiness for the greatest number of people. Often expressed as, "the greatest good for the greatest number."

Helps to choose the good thing for the majority and work out possible consequence of an action

Act Utilitiarianism
A teleological theory that uses the outcome of an action to determine whether it is good or bad

Rule Utilitarianism
Establishing a general rule that follows utilitarian principles

Preference Utilitarianism
Moral actions are right or wrong according to how they fit the preferences of those involved

Qualitative
Looking at the quality of the pleasure

Quantitative
Focuses on the greatest number. Measures the results by a measurable quantity or amount (how much happiness it creates)
