SCR is objective and avoids social desirability bias. However they may not be immune from the influence of the ptpt. Sympathetic arousal can cause sweating etc. Fear, anger etc can cause it. Still has present extraneous variables.

Initial study only used men. We know that genders deal with stress differently, studies findings are gender biased. However Friedman et al: 800 men and women. Treatment group (given cardiac counselling and Type A counselling) 15% less likely to get CHD.
