a process where an increasing proportion of the worlds population lives in towns and cities resulting in there growth

areas of a city that are built by people from any materials they can find on land that doesn't belong to them

informal sector
that part of the economy where jobs are created by people to try t get an income

where local authorities help the squatter settlement residents to improve their homes

occur where land is divided into indivual plots and water, sanitation, electricty and basic track layout are supplied before any building by residents begins

a process usually associated with the development of an economy where increasing proportion of people work in the industry

land on the edge of a city where restrictions are placed on building to prevent the expansion on towns and cities
