What is the CBD?
The central part of most cities contains shops and offices and is called the Central Business District (CBD).

The Burgess urban model is circular in shape and based on concentric rings of land use.

What is commercial use?
How the land use of a city is put into categories - commercial refers to shops and offices. Residential is to do with housing. Different areas of a city will have differing housing styles and patterns.

Where are land values highest?
Land values (price per square metre) increase the closer you get to the CBD. Old industrial areas will have lower land values. These brownfield sites are being used to attract new activities back into settlements.
