What is tonsillitis?
Infection of the tonsils causing them to become inflamed

What are the differences between bacterial and viral tonsillitis?
Bacterial; swollen uvula, red uvula, swollen tonsils, white spots on tonsils and uvula, tongue will look grey
Viral; throat redness and swollen tonsils

Sore throat, difficulty swallowing, pyrexia, coughing, earache, feeling sick and tired

Children due to their smaller airways

How is croup contracted?
Breathing in infected particles that have been coughed or sneezed into the air

Stridor, barking cough, hoarse voice, recession of chest, fever

What is treatment for croup?
Dexamethasone for milder cases, hospitalisation for severe and nebuliser adrenaline

Inflammation and swelling of the epiglottis
