What is JIT (just in time)?
A lean way or managing stock. Raw materials are delivered to suppliers just minutes before they are needed on the production line and finished products are delievered straight to customers.

What is Lean Design?
It uses CAD packages to reduce time taken to design new procucts. It tries to improve efficiency of designing new products and makes it easier and quicker by using IT, it means products reach the market quicker.

Rather than organising employees on one long production line, employees are divided into smaller teams and they produce products.

When a business grows too large and the costs of producing their products begin to rise again.

An approach to managing quality where standards are checked periodically rather than just at the end.
