How individuals organise ideas and make sense of the world around them.

Essential for thinking and discussing things that cant be observed.

Intellectual development in infancy and early childhood
A time of rapid intellectual development. 90% of neurons are in place by the time a child is 5 years old.

Early adulthood
By early adulthood, individuals have gained knowledge, skills and exerience. They use past experiences to make judgeents. Thinking is logical and realistic. Individuals are able to think throguh probems and make decisions.

Later adulthood
Individuals continue to learn new skills and knowledge into later adulthood. Intelligence does not change but short-term memory nd thinking speed may decline.

Intelectual milestones: From birth
Can use all of their senses to understand the world around them.

Intelectual milestones: At 3 years
Can ask questions, count, recognise colours and sort objects.

Intelectual milestones: At 5 years
Starting o read and write and draw in detail. Can talk about past and future.

Intelectual milestones: At 8 years
Can thinki more deeply, reason, talk about abstract ideas and plan.
