what are the types of play?
unoccupied play, solitary play, onlooker play, parallel play, associative play, cooperative play

what is unoccupied play?
0 -1 years, random movements with no objective and learning how the body moves

what is solitary play?
12-18 months - child plays alone and is not interested in playing with others

what is onlooker play?
18m-2 years - child watches and learns from others playing with other children

what is parallel play?
3-4 years, child plays near others but not with them

what is associative play?
4-6 years, child begins to interact with others while playing

practice skills, develop self esteem, learn to cooperate and use their imagination, gain confidence, build independence
