It provides a location for water sports and activities as well as a campsite. 3 houses were submerged to build the dam so families were displaced.

Attracts tourists in the summer so contributes to the local economy. However, it cost £17 million to build and 274 acres of farmland was flooded so famers lost their liveihoods.

Provides a breeding ground for birds and is a nature reserve. Habitats were flooded to build the dam.

How is the reservoir sustainable?
It provides the local area with water, which is taken at the same rate as it enters. The dam also helps to provide hydroelectric power which is a sustainable energy.
