Define the Family.
A type of household where the people living together are related by blood or legal proceedings.

What are the characteristics of a Nuclear Family.
Two generations, geographically mobile, isolated, independent family unit and loose knit.

What are the characteristics of an Extended family.
3x generations, geographically static, live within one mile of next kin, dependant and close knit.

What are the characteristics of a Modified extended family.
Nuclear family with extended family traits, are also known as the telephonic family.

What are the characteristics of a Single parent family.
Bringing up children without a partner, this is most commonly matrifocal.

What are the characteristics of a Reconstituted family.
Blended families, divorced adults forming new families.

What are the characteristics of an Empty shell family.
Love between the couple has gone but they stay together for their children.

What are the characteristics of an Empty nest family.
Children have left the house and only the couple remain.

What are the characteristics of a Boomerang family.
Children who have previously left come back at a later stage, e.g. money issues.
