what is distrubuted practice?
When there are breaks in the session providing rests periods or changes of activities. Few repititions and several skills can be done.

What are the advantages of distrubuted practices?
The performer doesnt get tired, allows time for mental rehersal, prevents boredom good for young, not very fit and beginners. good for complex, high organised skills

What are the disadvantages of distrubuted practice?
Performer may not gain the skill in the time provided therefore taking longer to learn the skill. time consuming

What is massed practice?
When there are little breaks in a sessions. the same skill is repeated over and over again, e.g. 30 mins forehand drives.

What are the advantages of massed practices?
The correct movement [attern is grooved so it is repeated the next time. It is good for experienced/skilled/fit and for simple, low organistation skills.

What are the disadvantages of massed practices?
Can be boring, tiring leading to errors or accidents, no time for feedback.

What is fixed practice?
When the whole movement of a skill is repeatedky practiced so becomes well learned . it is not broken down into smaller parts i.e golf swings.

What are the advantages of fixed practices?
Good for closed skills, routine can be grooved untill it becomes automatic and equipment doesnt need to change.

What are the disadvantages of fixed practice?
Can be boring.

What is variable practice?
When the same skills is repeated in different situations e.g. practicing passing against a defenfer in different situations

What are the advantages of variable practice?
used for open skills as the situation is often changing. level of diffulculty can increase.

What are the disadvantages of variable practice?
Can be too demanding, time consuming
