Nuclear Family
often referred to as the 'cereal packet' family, consisting of two parents and a number of children who live in isolation from other family members. this is the group recognised most in today's society.

Extended Family
A family consisting of more than two generations living together or in close proximity.

Reconstituted Family
Sometimes called a step family, this is formed when one or both partenrs have been married before and follwoing divorce or death remarry and may bring their children with them into the new relationship.

This can be formed through either the death of a partner, divorce, unmarried mother/father, or through choice.

Dual Worker Families
This is where both partners contribute to the family income by having paid employment.

Childless Couples
someone that doesn't have children both through choice or because they cannot.

people may be in a relationship however, they wish to live alone in their seperate houses.

The state of having no home.
