Explain how and why Lady Jane Gray took the throne.
1553, John Dudley (father in-law) made Jane queen to keep a secure place in office, he did not want the Catholic Mary to be queen. After 9 days Mary marched to London and imprisoned Jane and become queen. Dudley was executed.

When did Mary become queen and when did she die?
She become queen in1553 and died in 1558.

What was the Wyatts Rebellion?
It happened in 1554 because many people didn't agree with the marrage of Mary and Philip II of Spain (xenophobia). Jane Gray was executed as a result of her father Duke of Suffolks involvment. Princess Elizabeth was also arrested for her involvment.

When was the marrage between Mary and Philip of Spain? What did this lead to?
Their marrage happened in 1554. Spain was currently at war with France and the Papacy which made England become involved too. This caused conflict as Mary was trying to get England Catholic again but they are at war with the Pope. Calais was lost too

When was the restoration of the Heresy law and what did this lead to?
1555. 1 year later Archbishop Cranmer was the first Protestant to be burnt at the stake followed by 300 more.

When were the harvest failures and influenza epidemic.
1st harvest failure = 1555, 2nd harvest failure = 1556, 1st influenza epidemic = 1557, 2nd influenza epidemic = 1558 (how Mary died)

Who was Reginald Pole?
He was Cardinal and Archbishop of Canterbury in 1556 to 1558. He created the Legatine Synod which aimed to stop corruption in the Catholic church.

When did Elizabeth become queen and when did she die?
She was queen in 1558 and died in 1603. Mary was reluctant to recognise Elizabeth as her successor as they did not share the same religious views.

What and When were the main religious reforms that Elizabeth made?
In 1559 Elizabeth passed the Act of supremacy which was to be head of the church and call herself supreme govoner and the 4th set of royal injunctions. In 1563 the 39 articals was issued.

What did Elizabeth do to get Calais back.
She agreed to the Treaty of Cateau-Cambresis which would give back Calais in 8 years if England made not trouble with France. She intervened with the Huguenots and so Calais was not given back.

In 1559 Elizabeth chose to support the Protestants in Scotland
