He was now directly to blame for all battle losses, this left the Tsarina (a German) and Rasputin (her secret lover?) to rule the country. This discredited the royal family.

On 12th March 1917, the army refused to take down the revolt. Demonstrators took over the Duma. Some Soldiers shot their officials and joined in the demonstration.

The Tsar issued a statement saying that he would abdicate. His brother would have been in charge, however he refused to take over.

On Sunday 22nd January, Bloody Sunday took place, what was this?
200,000 lower classed citizens marched to the Tsar's palace in order to give him a petition organised by 'Father Gapon', however they were brutally massacred.
