Minimum wage
Aim was to increase it, this was achieved, a 35c increase happened, went from 40c to 75c. Reduced some poverty and percentage of Americans living in poverty fell from 33% in 49 to 28% in 52

Social Security
It was extended to 1million more Americans, the benefits as well for social security had doubled

National Health Insurance
Wanted a tax based system of 4% on the 1st $6,300 of a persons income. Was seen as a socialist easure and was therefore unpopular with Congress. A hospital construction act was passsed however it benefited the building industry more than medicine

Housing
National Housin Act 1949, provided the building of 810,000 low income houses (though only around half of them were built). Due to decrease in unemployment, more people could afford better housing

Education
Little was done in education in spite of evidence of poor state American schools. However government did set up NSF(National Science Foundation in order to encourage research- cold war context).
