Found in regions between 5 and 20 degrees north and south of the equator, between the ITCZ and the zone of subtropical high pressure

Winds which blow from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea over the Indian subcontinent (bringing large quantities of moisture between June and September)

High throughout the year (around 15-30 degrees) because of sun remaining relatively high in the sky throughout the year)

Rainfall is high, especially along the coastline (2,000-3,000mm) seasonal rainfall

Winds change direction with the wet and dry season and blow onshore in the wet season and offshore in the dry season
