TRIPLE SCIENCE: Carbon Dioxide and the Greenhouse effect and Climate Change

?
Explain the role of greenhouse gases in keeping the earth warm.
The greenhouse gases absorb much of the heat that is radiated from the earth and re-radiates it in all directions keeping the atmosphere warm.
1 of 8
What would happen if there were no greenhouse gases?
The earth would be much cooler.
2 of 8
In recent years the amount of greenhouse gases have increased. Explain how this leads to global warming.
More greenhouse gas in the atmosphere means that more of the sun's heat is trapped rather than radiated back out into space. This means the earth gets warmer.
3 of 8
Define Evidence.
Data that supports or contradics a particular hypothesis.
4 of 8
Define Hypothesis.
A possible explanation for a set of observations.
5 of 8
Give examples of the sort of data that scientists are collecting about climate change.
Snow and ice cover, the temperature of sea surface, speed and direction of sea currents, atmospheric temperatures.
6 of 8
Cow rearing causes a rise or fall in methane?
A rise in methane.
7 of 8
What is cattle rearing?
The birthing, breeding and general care of cattle.
