The Duty Solicitor is paid by the Legal Services Commission (the government body that administers legal aid) for all cases they deal with, this means they will not charge you for their advice and representation.

It is the job of a Duty Solicitor to represent those people who do not have, or who have not requested, a specific solicitor.
