how would customer research help a business know whether it's meeting customer needs?
questionnaires/personal interviews - the questionnaires must ask good quality questions which elicit relevant info to allow the business to make judgements / benchmark data against competitors also to assess needs

to gain higher quality and more reliable info on the attitudes of customers and ask open-ended q. also they charge high prices and customers are unwilling to sit for long so feedback forms is good

a technique which uses software to assess large databases - uncovering hidden patterns

the company can look for patterns to establish a relationship. they can also forecast future trends by using extrapolation. also history records would reveal changes in customer needs

customers may need to provide personal details - a company can store details on a database which can be compiled as purchases are made. the business can also collect data directly from online. this allows them to keep updated data for future analysis
