DEFINE IMPORT/EXPORT:
Data needs to be easily imported/exported between different software eg names and addresses into word processing software to perform a mail merge.

A series of instructions used to format and display text and images on the WWW. HTML is complex and difficult to understand.

Can place graphics more accurately / can have more control over the layout / loafs faster than suing a template / less likely to take up memory
