What type of disease is cystic fibrosis?
It is an autosomal recessive disorder (monogenetic)

How can cystic fibrosis lead to malabsorption syndrome and weight loss?
The pancreatic duct is blocked pancreatic enzymes can't be released protein and fat can't be absorbed as it isn't broken down.

The enzymes which aren't released from the pancreatic duct eat away the pancreas.

They take food supplements containing digestive enzymes to break down the food.

The cilia lining the airways are coated in excessive amounts of mucus filled with bacteria leading to coughs and colds.

A mucus plug develops in the cervix which stops sperm reaching the egg.

How is the male reproductive system affected by cystic fibrosis?
Sperm can't leave the testes as the sperm duct is blocked with mucus.

What are the ways in which the mutations can affect the CFTR protein?
ATP is unable to bind an open the ion channel. The channel may be open but changes in the protein structure lead to the reduced movement of chloride ions through the channel. Or the misfolding of the CFTR protein.
