Health Related Components of Fitness

It is a positive state of complete mental, physical and social wellbeing. Health can be improved by taking part in excercise as it builds up fitness levels, not merely the abscence of illness or infirmity.

The ability to retain the centre of mass (gravity) of the body above the base support with reference to static (stationary), or dynamic (changing) conditions of movement, shape and orientation. e.g. Hammer throw and Clay pigeon shooting
Balance

The ability to use two or more body parts together - hand-eye, foot-eye and head-eye. e.g. Football and cricket.
Coordination

The ability to undertake strength performances quickly. Power = strength x speed

The time between the presentation of a stimulus and the onset movement. e.g Athletics and Badminton.
Reaction time

The differential rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement or cover a distance in a period of time. e.g. Boxing and Sprinting.
