Atrial Systole
The atria fill with blood and the pressure in the atria increases. The atrioventricular valves are forced open and blood flow into the relaxing ventricles. The two atria contract simultaneously, forcing blood into the ventricles.

The ventricles contract which increases pressure in the ventricles so the atrioventricular valves close. Blood is forced into the aorta and pulmonary artery. The semi-lunar valves open and blood begins to flow into the relaxing atria.
